When your nickname is “The Universe” there is something amazing about you. Last night, in his debut with the Edmonton Oilers Ilya Bryzgalov performed amazingly, blanking the Nashville Predators 3-0. The win gives hope to a struggling Oilers club that currently occupies last place in the Western Conference standings.

Did you pick him up yet in your hockey pool? According to Yahoo! Fantasy Hockey, Bryzgalov has been acquired off the waiver-wire 1,593 times today. People are optimistic about the Russian netminder’s potential for success, as you can see. And so is Oilers head coach Dallas Eakins who announced that The Universe will get the nod again today:

The Oilers need this – they need a goaltender who can coverup some of the defensive lapses that remain prevalent in their game, which is a problem most young teams face.
