Visiting Chicago to play against the Blackhawks has never been welcoming to NHL clubs. But on most nights the worst that will happen is a few fan heckles and the constant opposition of a loud intimidating crowd. However, last night was different.
With 6:27 remaining in the 3rd period, the Blackhawks firmly in control of a 5-1 lead, Jets defenceman Adam Pardy was checked into the corner boards at the United Center. The hit knocked a pane of glass loose, removing the barrier between player and fan. A couple of Blackhawks loyalists seized the opportunity to strip Pardy’s helmet off his head and pour a beer on him. What a waste of beer.
